The kitchen was two rooms before. We knocked out the walls separating the kitchen from the dining room/living room and turned it into a bigger kitchen.
This is the same view after a great deal of ripping apart. The walls are down and the all the other walls are stripped down to the bones so we could check for rot. And if you notice on the right side there is some insulation where there originally was a window. They had taken it out and covered it up. We reinstalled a window there.
And here we are after the outer walls have also been removed, and rebuilt with new studs and insulation. The window has been installed as well.
Getting closer.
And closer.
And.....tada!! This is the same view. We still have some work to do. The trim around the door needs painted. The doors themselves need painted as well. And we're still missing the foot boards and one cabinet door. But I love it. Especially the window seat.
And here is the rest.
It's exactly the white kitchen I've been dreaming about.
Kjempe-kjempefint Alicia! Gurimalla, kor flink dere har vært!!! Ekte sørlands-stil ! Klem fra Gro Anita ( Go bedring med ryggen,kjære deg!)

DeleteTusen takk kjære Gro! Det har vært mye jobb men nå kan vi endelig ta det litt med ro. Håper vi ser hverandre snart! Klem!
DeleteI have been anxiously awaiting a new post and you sure don't disappoint with this one! Once again, I love it! Gives me inspiration for my own house. It is a beautiful kitchen and I really like the dining area with the window seat!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anna! I think the window seat is my favourite thing in the house so far. Love it. :)
DeleteAlicia!!! I'm searching for adequate descriptive words but I can't think of any that are big enough!! It is soooooo beautiful. I love it! I LOVE the window pane above the fabulous sink! Every detail is so lovely, clean and magazine worthy. You have such a good eye for the small touches that bring the whole together. Beyond well done! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim! The window above the sink is just an old one we found out in the barn. I was thinking of putting mirror glass in it but I think I like it just the way it is. It's fun to finally be able to work on the details. :)
DeleteOh my goodness, Alicia! I just absolutely love it! Every detail! I just told Michael that I'm jealous of the pantry space you have! Haha! And the plants! What kind of plant is on the table? And what plants/herbs are in the baskets hanging next to the sink? I just love the white and blue, and the clean and spacious feel of it! Love the window seat too! I just can't say enough...
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't believe how much time it took to plan the layout of the kitchen so I would have enough cabinet space. It was hard with 2 windows, 2 doors and a chimney. But I'm glad I kept going back to the drawing board cause I feel like we've taken advantage of all the space and it's turned out how I wanted. I have no idea what type of plant on the table and next to the sink (it's the same one). I bought them at Ikea. But I would like to plant some herbs some time. And thank you! I really love it. :)
